1970-1964 Photographs for Ballet Nacional de Cuba. / Salon de Mai (France) in Cuba. / Cuban Pavilion at Expo-67. (Montreal. Canada). / I Festival de la Canción. Varadero. Cuba. / Jean Ferrat (France) in Cuba. Correspondent for O' Ballet Magazine (Portugal) at the Intl.Ballet Festival in Havana.

1965 to 1968 Joins the staff of CUBA Magazine

1968 to 1970 Joins the staff of MUJERES Magazine. Free-Lance contributor to all major Cuban Publications and for Consejo Nacional de Cultura. Becomes member of Unión de Periodistas.

1970-1976 Applies for exit permit to abandon Cuba; political prison as dissident.

1977-1979 Returns to Ballet Nacional de Cuba and other cultural activities with Ministerio de Cultura, Teatro Estudio Group and Teatro Musical de La Habana.

1979-1980 Leaves Cuba. Moves to Spain and opens his Fot2 Studio in Madrid.

1981 Free-lances with Ministerio de Turismo Español. Joins Radial Press Agency.
1982 Starts Free-lancing for GEOMUNDO Magazine. Works with Madrid City Hall in the "Recuperar Madrid" project-campaign. Joins THE IMAGE BANK Stock Photography Agency.

1983-1985 Member of the ASMP (American Society of Media Photographers).

1986 Moves to The United States and settles in Miami (Florida). Freelance with most of local publications. Starts to work with The Coconut Grove Playhouse. Covers the First Festival de Teatro Hispano in Florida and the O.T.I. Festival. Works with Discos CBS International and the National Foundation for Advancement in the Arts.
1987-1990 Imparts Seminar on 'The Photographic Solution in Advertising' at the EXPO-FOTO in Santiago de Chile.

1991 Becomes United States Citizen. Works with Cultur Servicios in Mérida (Yucatán) México on a project that culminates in a book about The Mayan Ruins in Yucatán.

1992 Joins Miami City Ballet as photographer. Official Company Photographer for Ballet Etudes Company and Ballet Español Rosita Segovia (Miami) Starts a special collaboration program with The National TV of Spain (RTVE). Coverage of STS-45, 49 and 50 Shuttle Mission at NASA. Florida. USA.

1993 Photographic coverage of The Parliament and The Opera House in Budapest (Hungary). Becomes "Master of the Leica."

1994 Photographic coverage of The Carnival. Venice (Italy). Photokina Trade Fair: several of his pictures displayed at Leica Camera GmbH booth. "Best Photographer of the Year" Award by FotoImagen Magazine. Miami. Florida. USA.

1995 "Working with a Stock Agency." Workshop at Leinwandhaus Fotografie Forum. Frankfurt am Main. "Workshops with Luis Castañeda": a regular section in Leica Fotografie Intl. Magazine. Umschau Verlag. Frankfurt am Main. Germany.

1996 Invited to join the Leica Akademie and impart special travel seminars. Photokina Trade Fair: several of his pictures appear in the brochure of the new Leica R-8 camera introduced this year in the Fair. The Poster of the "Leica Gallery-2" book displays one of his early B&W works made in Cuba; the same photograph, which also appears in the cover, was part of his exhibition in the Leica Gallery in Solms (Germany) in 1995. Several pictures displayed at Minox GmbH booth. Travels to Indonesia as photographic advisor with a group of winners of the Kodak Elite-II competition, sponsored by Kodak (Germany). The World is a Rainbow". (Color slides conference-presentation), sponsored by Fuji Film and Leica Camera USA. At Miami (Florida) and the ASMP Chapters, both in Denver (Colorado) and in San Diego (California). Hasselblad FORUM Magazine publishes a portfolio of his images of the carnival of Venice. Leica View Magazine (USA) publishes an extensive portfolio and text highlighting his work. Opening of two exhibitions ("Lugares y Gente" and "Arquitectura Maya") and a Slide Show and a Conference in Ciudad Guatemala (Guatemala). Participates in "Realmaravilloso - Fotografia Latinoamericana" exhibition in Prato. Italy. At Fotomässan in Göteborg (Sweden) Hasselblad uses some of his pictures to decorate its pavilion and includes one in its 50th Anniversary commemorative booklet.

1998 Venezia in bianco e nero". Exhibition at Leica Gallery. Milan. Italy. Starts writing photographic articles for Leica Magazine. Italy. Joins dpa (Deutsche Presse Agentur) as Photo Contributor. Invited to join Gruppo Fotografico Leica. Milan. Italy

1999 First exhibit with Gruppo Fotografico Leica in Arezzo. Italy. Second exhibit with Gruppo Fotografico Leica in Marghera. Italy


Since 1980 he has traveled extensively through many States of the USA (California, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Louisiana, Georgia, Mississippi, Alabama, Colorado, Florida and New York). His activities have led him to Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, Monaco, Bahamas, Portugal, France, England, Ecuador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Paraguay, Chile, Mexico, Indonesia, Andorra, Brazil, Peru, Canada, Iceland, etc. Through the Image Bank system, his work is widely distributed and used all over the world by more than 60 TIB offices for the most diverse purposes, ranging from editorial to advertising. Since 1986 covers the yearly activities of the Arts Week for the National Foundation for the Advancement in the Arts.
